Marysue Grivna from Tampa, Florida was taken by her parents on November 20, 2013 to receive her annual seasonal flu shot. But unfortunately, instead of protecting her from possible illness, the vaccine completely paralyzed her.
Within a couple of days she became limp, and then entirely paralyzed. Reported by Natural News, Marysue is “nonverbal, confined to a wheelchair/hospital bed, and mainly eating through a g-tube …”.
Marysue had contracted what is known as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, or ADEM, a condition so unusual that doctors know very little about it.
ADEM is an uncommon auto-immune disease that occurs when the immune system “mistakenly assaults its own brain tissue,” in response to a vaccination or infection.
ADEM happens when the myelin sheath becomes inflamed, that is the electromagnetic coating which protects nerves both in the brain and in the spinal cord. Although the cause of the infection is not properly understood, we do know that in over half of those affected, it happens while they are already battling an existing viral or bacterial infection.
However, as when it comes to Marysue, ADEM will “on occasion … happen after a vaccination … usually after the MMR.” as stated by The Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute, and even more to this, National Vaccine Injury Lawyer Leah Durant has said that although uncommon, ADEM can be activated by a flu shot.
In a shocking live television moment whilst reporting about this case, TV host Nancy Grace learned the truth about big pharmaceutical companies not being responsible for tragic incidents such as this.
Historyofvaccines.org report that this immunity given to the pharmaceuticals goes back to the 1970’s and 80’s, where – just like now – improperly tested vaccines were given to the general public, and of course, there were casualties. It is reported that there were lots of big payouts to families damaged by vaccines, “especially from the combined diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DPT).”
As more companies were sued, the inevitable happened and drug business stopped making vaccines, until congress stepped in. In 1986, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP) was created which gave total immunity to the companies who manufacture these vaccines.
Misinformation fed to the public about the safety of these vaccines knowing the consequences will be minimal if, and undoubtedly when, things go wrong. The procedure in place today implies that families like the parents of Marysue Grivna have to apply for compensation through the NVICP by submitting a “claim with the U.S. Court of Claims.”.
Since the start of the program, over 17,000 petitions have actually been submitted, 14000 adjudicated, around 10,000 cases have been dismissed and only 4687 cases have been compensated for their vaccine injury. The market makes billions every year from producing these drugs, and the amount payed back to the families? Just $3.3 billion since 1988, that’s 18 years!
Marysue’s family who struggled with this tragedy for almost three years are still struggling to raise funds to provide their daughter with an accessible bathroom, bed room and a new electrical wheelchair and a wheelchair van.
In February 2016, in an interview with Tampa Bay’s ABC news, it was reported that her parents have chosen not to put Marysue in long term rehab, although they get help from a local rehabilitation facility for a few hours every day. Her mom Carla works outside the home, while dad Steven works as her full time carer.
Vaccines are not always the best choice for your child’s health or safety, now more than ever it is very important to explore alternatives to help your child’s immune system, instead of blindly following the option the federal government wants you to choose.
